“Together we can do great things.” ~Mother Teresa
I hope you all had a wonderful
thanksgiving! I wish a warm and loving
rest of the holiday season to all of you.
Thank you for your patience with me
through October as I finished my very challenging web development class. The class is over, and I can now spend my
free time on horseshoe pursuits again. My learning has just begun, though. I need to practice A LOT on coding little
apps – maybe some for horseshoes – so that I can keep improving my skills and
my coding efficiency.
So far for the new 2018 season I
have processed 84 memberships: 7 new members and 77 renewing members. Last
year at this time we had 20 new members and 66 renewals. But I do have 19 pieces of mail that arrived
today that I still need to process so we are a little ahead of where we were in
2017. Its good to see that we’re at
least holding steady.
If you haven’t yet sent in your
membership dues, please put it on your calendar as you’ll need to have your new
2018 card for your first tournament in January.
Tournament directors will be checking to be sure that you have your new
card.
I haven’t been able to pitch at any
tournaments yet this season, but I will this coming Saturday in Orlando. Wish me luck! I’ve had all of 2 league nights
as practice. I will probably be giving
all my opponents an early Christmas present!
I look forward to seeing a lot of
you at the Club Team Tournament in January at Beverly Hills. My home club, Oviedo, is a little thin on
members so we need to recruit some new blood so we can have a team. Too bad we
don’t have more retirees settle in Oviedo. They all seem to go to the coasts!!
Please be sure to reach out if you
have any questions about membership, tournaments, medical exemptions or about
using HSMaster. You can call or text my
cell phone 407.399.4908. Or you can
email me marcysantoyo@hotmail.com. I work full time, so I may not be able to
answer when you call but leave me a message and I’ll return the call as soon as
possible. I am here to help with all
your FSHPA needs!
Finally, I do plan to run for office
again in 2018 but that doesn’t mean that you can’t throw your hat in the ring,
too. We haven’t had any elections
recently because it seems that no one wants to jump in. I think it would be great to have elections
again. Please consider serving on the
Executive Council.
