I would like to congratulate the Flager Horseshoe Club on their "bringing back the trophy" with winning the Florida/Georgia Horseshoe tournament a wonderful time was had by all.

At this time I would like to announce that I will NOT be running for reelection as your first vice president due to family issues. My husband John is doing much better since his stroke in July but still needs my attention. He is doing well physically but communication is still difficult and it will be a long recovery process.

I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to serve you during my reign.

Keep spreading the word to everyone that you know about our wonderful sport. I will see you at a tournament somewhere....until then

Keep those ringers coming!!!

Janet McFarland

1st Vice President

I will just jump right in with reminders for everyone to identify and assemble your team for the Club Team Event and let me know well before the cutoff, please! The Club Team rules will be published in this newsletter so check them out. Also, be sure to make your hotel reservations early. There may not be unlimited rooms blocked at the special rate of $69 (before taxes) at the Quality Inn in Bradenton. Hotel rates are usually more expensive during the high season (winter) in Florida so book directly with that location.

There are new membership types coming after the first of the year in order to entice new adult pitchers into the FSHPA/NHPA by allowing them to experience actual tournament play with us. The new levels are called Trial and Provisional. Trial membership only lasts for one event, will not have statistics reported to NATSTATS and must be upgraded to full membership if they wish to continue pitching in our sanctioned tournaments. Provisional membership will allow a reduced dues amount until end of current calendar year and statistics will be reported to NATSTATS. I am sure there will be more info on the NHPA website as we near January 2019 inception.

As always, we are looking for volunteers to participate in the government of the FSHPA. Boyd Stonerock who held two positions, as Chairman- for the Nominating committee and also the By-Laws committee will be sorely missed. I will be acting as interim for the Nomination committee and Bob Hilpersthauser who is on the By-Laws committee will step up to By-Laws Chairman. At this moment, Bob is a committee of one. Both of these committees are only actually needed at certain times of the year and unfortunately that time is on the horizon. This is a year where there will be change in officers with the departure of Janet McFarland and there were quite a few NHPA by-law changes that will have to be reviewed and compared with our FSHPA by-laws to avoid any conflicts. So if you like face time with your fellow pitchers the Nomination committee is for you and if you love detail and words then you might just be the right fit for the By-Laws committee. There are other committee positions available; maybe one of those would be in your wheelhouse.

I look forward to seeing you at the pits in the coming months.
