The Club Team Championship tournament is scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Melbourne. The club team tournament remains a count-all handicap tournament with no limit on combined team entering ringer percentage. Clubs entering more than one team must balance their players with 50% or higher ringer average among their teams. The complete rules are published elsewhere in this newsletter. It’s time to start forming your teams now. We need to remember this is supposed to be a fun tournament that will bring all of the clubs together at one place to pitch horseshoes, socialize, and have fun. Any team pitching close to their combined team ringer percentage has an excellent chance of winning. I hope all of the clubs will participate.

As the Hall of Fame Committee Chairman I would like to remind everyone that the deadline for Hall of Fame nominations is March 1st, 2011. Anyone may recommend a candidate. The nominating letter should be addressed to the Chairman, Hall of Fame Committee and contain a history of the candidate’s accomplishments in sufficient detail to permit an intelligent evaluation of the person’s entitlement to this recognition. Hall of Fame nominees must have been a resident of Florida and an FSHPA Inc. member for a minimum of five years. Nominees must be an outstanding player or a member who has performed outstanding service to FSHPA Inc., and/or NHPA, over a period of many years.

The Horseshoe Pitching Newsline is a great newsletter published every 2 months by the NHPA with all kinds of important information about horseshoe pitching around the country. Subscription dues are only $12 per year or $30 for 3 years. Support the NHPA by subscribing now. You can find a subscription form on the NHPA website under Publicity/Promotion.

All of the horseshoe courts in each of the horseshoe pitching facilities must be re-certified again in 2011. This means that each club will have to make sure each court at a minimum meets the conditional court sanction requirements in the RGS book. Even though we just went thru this in 2007 it will still be a major task for each club and for the RD and ARD’s. This is a reminder so your club can be prepared.

In November 2010 a new version of the HSMaster program was made available on the NHPA website with some new features and enhancements for conducting tournaments and league play. Everyone that is using the HSMaster program should download the latest version. Please read the information and follow the directions before doing the new install. If you have trouble or need help with HSMaster you can give me a call.

I hope to see you all at a tournament soon. Good Luck and Good Pitching.
