COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT
DECEMBER 2010
I mentioned in the June and
September newsletter that Ron Deckard and I would not seek re-election. Since
then we have two members that have made it known that they will run for the two
open positions. John Peplinski, Chairman of the Nomination /Elections committee
has informed me that Buddy Short of Ocala will run for President and Bob Marks
of Winter Haven will run for First VP. I want to thank both members for getting
involved. I have always recommended that elections should be challenged to give
the members a choice as to whom they want to represent them on the council.
Therefore I have asked John Peplinski and his
committee members, Shirley Ingles and Don Lafavers to continue to look for
other members that would be willing to run.
Two appointed positions,
Chairman Promotion & Membership and Historian are still not filled. Please
contact me if you are interested in either position.
At
our last EC meeting we assigned the responsibilities previously held by the
Forth VP and Past President. Responsibilities of the Fourth VP (Constitution
& By-Laws Director and Grievance Director) are now the responsibility of
the Second VP. Responsibilities of the Past President (Nominating
Director/Election Supervisor) are now the responsibilities of the President.
The organizational chart will reflect these changes.
The
Brevard County Horseshoe Club will be the Host Club for the Club Team
Tournament to be held on January 29, 2011. The tournament rules are published
in this newsletter. Last year the tournament was held in Clearwater but was
cancelled due to bad weather. This was the first year that this tournament was
a count-all 100 percent handicap with no cap on combined team entering ringer
percentage. Since we did not complete the tournament last year we really don’t
know how well this new format will work. As for me the jury is still out on
this. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year and we will know whether
the changes made to the format last year did level the playing field or not. I
look forward to seeing everyone at this tournament.
Pat
and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and
healthy 2011.
Bob
