ANNUAL AWARDS

 

    Each year the membership has the opportunity to recognize individuals that have shown them selves to be

exceptional members that have, by their actions, made our organization and the sport better for all of us.  These

are very prestigious awards and are not to be taken lightly.   If you know of any member that might qualify for

either of these awards you are encouraged to submit them for consideration.

 

                                                                               HALL OF FAME

 

  The FSHPA Inc. Hall of Fame was established in 1975. A Hall of Fame exhibit is located in Ed Wright Park,

Clearwater, Florida. It contains the official FSHPA Inc. Hall of Fame plaque with the names of Hall of Fame

members and year of induction, photographs and memorabilia pertinent to its members, FSHPA Inc. and

NHPA. New members are inducted at the FSHPA Inc. Annual Awards Banquet which is held in conjunction

with the State ChampionshipTournament.

Section 1.  Eligibility - A candidate must have been;

                a. a resident of Florida and an FSHPA Inc. member for a minimum of five years.

                b. an outstanding player or a member who has performed outstanding service to  FSHPA Inc., and/or

NHPA, over a period of many years.

 

Section 2.  Anyone may recommend a candidate. The nominating letter should be addressed to the Chairman,

Hall of Fame Committee and contain a history of the candidate's accomplishments in sufficient detail to permit

an intelligent evaluation of the person's entitlement to this recognition. Deadline for nominations is March 1 of

each calendar year.

 

Section 3.  The Hall of Fame committee shall;

a.  the committee shall consist of the Chairman, the President plus five additional members in good

      standing.

                b. select members for induction; one outstanding pitcher and one outstanding organizer but not

                   necessarily both.

                      Selection may be based upon nominating letters, or background research conducted by committee

members, of persons they consider potential candidates.

                c. Vote by ballot on a scale of 0-5 with no more than one name entered per point value.  Committee

members are not obligated to enter a name for a point value if they feel there are no worthy nominees.  A

nominee must receive a minimum of twenty-two (22) votes to qualify for induction.  If more than one nominee in

a category receives the required minimum number of votes, then only the person receiving the greatest number

of votes in a category will be selected.

 

Section 4.  The Hall of Fame Chairman shall;

                a. transmit copies of nominations to committee members with appropriate ballots.

                b. tabulate votes and notify successful nominees of their selection for induction.

                c. arrange for purchase and presentation of appropriate individual plaques to new inductees.

                d. arrange for inscription and installation of individual plates on the official  FSHPA Inc. Hall of Fame plaque.

 

Section 5.  Members of the Hall of Fame shall;

                a. have a lifetime exemption from payment of FSHPA Inc. annual dues and receive the "FSHPA Inc. Newsletter"

without cost.

                                                                        OUTSTANDING MEMBER

 

  This award shall be made annually to the FSHPA Inc. member who has done the most during the previous

calendar year to promote and foster the sport of horseshoe pitching. The requirements for this award are:

 

Section 1.  Any FSHPA Inc. member may nominate another member. Nominations shall be sent to the FSHPA

Inc.

President.  Deadline for nominations is March 1st of each calendar year. In the event that no nominations are

received by FSHPA Inc. President by March 1 of each year, the Executive Council can consider a member for

this award.

 

Section 2.  The nomination should contain sufficient information to permit an intelligent evaluation of the

person's entitlement to this recognition.

 

Section 3.  The Executive Council shall select the recipient of this award based upon the information provided,

or otherwise obtained ,concerning the nominee.
