COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

DECEMBER 2014

Our tournament season is in full swing and it looks like we will have another successful season with 848 entries so far. This is great for our association and I want to again thank all Tournament Directors for their dedication and hard work that they put to make each tournament a success and a pleasure to pitch in. You all are the backbone of our association.

I would like to address the website for each club. It appears that each club needs to look over their website for accuracy and make the necessary changes by your webmaster or Jim Smith if he is still handling website changes for your club. Many changes are made by clubs such as Executive Council changes that are not updated. So review your website and update any errors/omissions that you find.

We have a new Charter Club called the Polo Park HSC located at 1744 Challenger Ave, Davenport, FL 33897. They have six courts that have been sanctioned by Ron Deckard Regional Director of Florida. The courts have a Clay – Sand mixture instead of the normal clay but they feel it is just as good. Sam Caincross is the President and Charlie Pierson will be the Tournament Director. They are looking to have at least 2 tournaments this tournament year and will submit dates to the EC for approval. I wish the Polo Park HSC the best and I am looking forward to your first tournament.

This year we have 3 Executive Council positions are up for election. They are the President, 1st VP and 3rd VP. Anyone interested in running for any of the positions mentioned should notify Boyd Stonerock, Chairman of the Nominating/Election committee. You can reach Boyd at 727-524-8649 or email him at luckyshoe@juno.com. Candidates must let Boyd know as soon as possible so he can submit the names by office they seek prior to February 15, 2015 to the Newsletter Editor.

Toll of time has taken 3 of our members over the past several months. Ed Boggess Sr and Jim Congdon both members of the Brevard HSC. The third member was Ralph Cantrell a member of the Orlando HSC for many years and was inducted into the FSHPA Hall of Fame in 2007 for his contribution as an organizer and promoter of our sport of horseshoe. May they rest in peace.

The Club Team Tournament will be held this year at the Flagler County HSC on January 31, 2015 so it is time for each club to start putting their team (or teams) together for this great event. Flagler County HSC is adding a singles tournament on January 30, 2015 making this a two day event. The rules for this tournament are printed elsewhere in the newsletter.

Next Executive Council meeting will be held at Flagler County HSC 1:30 PM, January 30, 2015.

In closing I want to wish each member, their family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and safe New Year. See you at the courts.

                                                                   Bob Hilpertshauser  President FSHPA Inc.
