COMMENTS FROM SEC/TREAS

Happy holidays!!! Here’s hoping that Santa brings you everything on your

wish list!

Our new 2015 cards are green and so far 71 members have renewed and we have

15 new members. This time last year we had 16 new members so we’re on track to

either meet or exceed our membership additions in 2015. I know each club is

focusing efforts on attracting new pitchers and increasing membership. It’s

working!

You still have time to get your 2015 cards – you’ll need it to pitch in your first tournament in January. Please remember that dues are now $28 $17 for NHPA and $11 for FSHPA). That extra dollar is going to maintenance of our

Florida Hall of Fame.

Most of you know that our monthly newsletter is available at

http://fshpa.com  If you have internet access please start looking for the

newsletter there. At some point in the not too distant future we will need to

go to an all-digital format. Postage and printing costs are rising.

If you have an email address please let me know. I can add that to your

player profile so that we can include you on horseshoe news and notifications.

Please know that all of your information is used only for FSHPA business and is

not disclosed to any outside parties.

Anyone on Facebook? There are a few horseshoe-related groups you can check

out:

1.) National Horseshoe Pitcher’s Association (NHPA) has 669 members in

the Facebook group. Pitchers share articles, tournament information,

    photos and videos.

2.) Florida Horseshoe Pitchers Assn is an organization page on Facebook.

Check it for tournament updates and results. Share your successes and

    tips with other pitchers.

Hope to see you on the courts and on Facebook!

                           COMMENTS FROM THE THIRD VP

Horseshoes, horseshoes, horseshoes...spread the word!

We should all be talking about our Horseshoes Clubs whenever and wherever

we can.  Try to promote the sport of horseshoes among your neighbors, friends,

social groups, church groups, and any new comers to your communities.  Maybe

your club has some promotional ideas that are working, please share the ideas

with the rest of us.  Feel free to call or email me and I will get the ideas

out to the other clubs.  Chuck Johnston from Clearwater has suggested a few

good ideas from their club.  The officers of the Clearwater club are advertising with Magnetic Informational signs on their vehicles.  They also set

up a stand out side a local store with information about horseshoes, where they

met and invited anyone interested to come and pitch with the club.  Flagler County is going to have a float in the Christmas parade, passing out candy and

club information to try to get the word out in our area.  Flagler is also going

to participate in a local Home & Lifestyle Show handing out informational

brochures and answering questions. Anything to get the word out and encourage

new pitchers. These are all great ideas, I am sure that your club has some

wonderful ideas also so please share them with us.

I hope everyone is enjoying the new tournament season.  Take a look at the

Tournament schedule often (as it does change); make some plans to pitch at a

new club or two this tournament season.  Also, it is not too early to start

thinking about the Florida Club Team Tournament being held in Flagler County

Saturday, January 31, 2015.  Vicki Marteney is the Tournament Director for the Florida Club Team Tournament, therefore you will need to send your Team entries

and fees to Vicki no later than the Wednesday before the tournament.  So start

gathering your Teams together and making plans for January.
