                                     Comments from the Secretary/Treasurer

Oh boy….here we go…my very first comments for the newsletter as Secretary/Treasurer!  I would start off by saying thank you to everyone who voted for me but I ran unopposed!! So instead, I will thank all of you who have expressed your confidence in me and I will do my best not to let you down. I realize that this is not an easy job and I have a gigantic learning curve ahead of me so I ask for your patience and your forgiveness in advance!

Moving on to actual FSHPA business….thank you to all who attended and participated in the 2010 Closed State Tournament. What a tournament! We had 38 Mixed Doubles teams, 46 Doubles teams and 128 singles pitching in the tournament this year.  Participation was down a little from last year but we had just as much fun and witnessed some spectacular pitching like Dell Woolard and Pam Maples coming down to a tie in their last game and having to pitch 4 more shoes. Of those last shoes, all but one were ringers! Talk about drama!

Next year the tournament will be held at the St. Cloud HS Club. Several of the members of that club come down for the winter and go back up north before the state tournament so they will need help from neighboring clubs.  Please “pitch in” when you’re not pitching in a tournament event!

I’m looking forward to working with the executive council and to interacting with more pitchers from all over the state in the years to come.  Have a happy summer!
