COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

                                                 JUNE 2010

Our Association celebrated 50 years at the State Tournament held in Melbourne and I thank my home club for being a gracious host for this year’s event and to everyone that help make this tournament a success. Congratulations to Pam Maples Women’s State Champion, Ray Hood Elder’s State Champion, Ron Deckard Men’s State Champion, Megan Polski Girls State Champion and Justin Maples Boy’s State Champion. Also congratulations to all class winners. We had 2 Triple Crown winners. Ron Deckard won the Triple Crown Champion and Harold Newsome was the Triple Crown Winner. Congratulations to Byron Jarrett on being inducted into the FSHPA Hall Of Fame. You have joined an elite group and deservingly so.

Our association lost two dedicated council members that I will miss very much. Byron Jarrett was appointed by me to replace Gus Green as Second VP in 2005 and I never regretted selecting him. He contributed so much to the association during his five years on the council. He was instrumental in changing the format of the Club Team Tournament from a class type tournament to a count all handicap tournament allowing all clubs a fair chance of winning first place. What was best for everyone was the way Byron approached each issue. Best wishes to him and his wife Bettie.

John Peplinski was a member of the EC for 15 years, 5 as VP and 10 as Sec/Treas. When I was elected President in 2005 I relied on John to help me through the growing pains of my first year. His experience on the council was of great value to me. John always looked at what was best for our Association and its members, not what is best for him or his home club. He had great insight which helped the council make better decisions on issues. As I stated before the Sec/Treas position is the most important one on the EC. John is honest and trustworthy and he took his job seriously each and every day. Thanks John for all your years of service and I wish you and Roberta the best in years to come.

The good news is, we have an outstanding member that has taken the reins of Sec/Treas. Marcela (Marcy) Santoyo will make an excellent Sec/Treas. She is young, very bright, honest and trustworthy. She is a member of the Oviedo HSC and I am looking forward working with Marcy.

By Law changes recommended by the EC was approved at our Club/EC meeting in April. This   changed the makeup of your council from 7 to 5 members therefore reducing expense to the association. The Second VP position became vacant and I appointed Vicki Marteney (with the approval of the council) to this position. Your EC now has 2 men and 3 women on the board. How’s that for a change since I became President! I can see now that Ron and I will have our hands full for the next year. Just kidding!! Also at this meeting we awarded the 2012 State Tournament to Bradenton HSC. This now makes 5 clubs that will host future State Tournaments.
