There are two appointed positions that we need to fill and
they are State Historian and Promotion Chairman. The State Historian is vacant
at this time. Jim Smith is still the Promotional Chairman but has asked me if I
would seek someone to take his place. Please contact me or any EC member if you
are interested in either position. COME
ON MEMBERS GET INVOLVED! HELP OUT YOUR ASSOCIATION!
It has been five years since you elected me President and I have given a lot of thought over the past several months and decided that I will not seek re-election. I enjoyed being President and the challenges that comes with it. We accomplished a lot during the past five years. When I took over there was a lot of dissention among the council members and it was my job to bring civility among the members of the council and I believe we accomplished that. We had some spirited debates but at the end of the day we did what was best for our association. We also made a lot of By-Law changes, most dealt with conflicts between articles. Vicki Marteney and her By-Laws committee did an outstanding job in correcting these discrepancies. The one disappointment during my presidency was losing the Game Related Item sales representative during my first year. We were unable to get any of our members that were willing to take over this appointed position; therefore we had to dissolve this position. The GRI sales generated $2000.00 of income annually. In order to recap this loss we raised the sanction tournament fees from $1.00 to $2.00 which became effective June 1, 2009.
I will be appointing a Chairman for the Nominating/Election committee and it will be their job to seek out someone to be your next President and First VP. If you recall, Ron Deckard informed the membership last year that he would not seek re-election. I am hoping that younger members will become interested in moving our association forward over the next decade and beyond.
Next EC meeting will be held at the Orlando HSC on October 29, 2010 starting 10AM.
