COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

JUNE 2011

Congratulations to Ron Deckard Men’s State Champion, Tom Hall Elders State Champion, Pam Maples Women’s State Champion, Dylan Holmberg Boy’s State Champion and Megan Polski Girl’s State Champion in the singles division.

Thanks to the St Cloud Club, The Executive Council and all the FSHPA members that helped make this a great Tournament.

Bradenton HSC will host the 2012 State Tournament and Clearwater HSC will host the 2013 State Tournament.

The awards banquet was a great success with well over 100 people in attendance.

All Bylaw changes recommended by the EC were approved at our Club/EC meeting in April.

The Position of Promotional Chairman is open. Contact me or any EC member if you are interested in this position.

Thanks to the hard work of Eileen Fox and Verdell Woollard the junior program is making a strong comeback. We had six Juniors in the state Tournament this year. I have heard some exciting news from Jeff Holmberg that he is starting a program this summer for junior’s that should expand our junior program.

As your new President I am looking forward to the challenge of serving all the Members of the FSHPA for the next two years and I will do what is best for our Association.

The next Executive Council Meeting will be held in October. The date and location will be announced in the September Newsline.

Comments from 2^nd VP

I have a few things to mention. I hope that if you were able to pitch in the state tournament that you did well. And if you didn’t pitch as well as you wanted, that you had a good time anyway. Keep practicing (I know I need to). I took score for the junior pitchers on Saturday. We had one young man who entered with a 1.97% and pitched an 8.80% average. He did a great job and I look forward to watching his progress for next year. They all encouraged one another out there.

The minutes of the annual meeting include the most recent changes for our by-laws and they go into effect on June 1, 2011.

The FSHPA is still in need of a chairman for the promotions committee. Maybe you don’t want to be in charge but have great ideas—join in and work on the committee. I know there is much untapped talent out there. Please contact me at dvmarteney@juno.com or 321-297-1802.

If any club is in need of trophies I have a dozen of varying sizes that could be reused with simple changes. I hate to throw things out if they can be recycled!!
