COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

JUNE 2012

Our 2011-2012 season has come to an end with a very successful State Tournament held at the

Bradenton HSC. This was the first State Tournament for Bradenton and I thank Lois Hottinger

and her team for an outstanding job! The courts were in great condition, lunch was great and the

Friday night cocktail party was outstanding. Top it off with a fantastic banquet held at the

Peridia Golf and Country Club. Thanks again for a job well done.

Congratulations to our champions Shalee Cason in the Women’s, Ron Deckard in the Men’s,

Tom Hall in the Elders. Junior Champions were Megan Polski Girl’s and Dylan Holmberg for

the Boy’s and all of the Class Champions for a job well done.

Congratulations to Shirley Ingles on being inducted into the FSHPA Inc Hall of Fame.

At our annual meeting we discussed the NHPA request that we get training in CPR. I instructed

that all club Presidents seek out a community course (Red Cross or EMT location) on CPR and

get all Club Officers certified. I would like this completed by the end of October and to let me

know that you have completed your certification. The NHPA correspondence titled

EVERYBODY WHO HAS A HEART is printed else ware in the newsletter.

We have a new charter club called Flagler Palm Coast HSC located in Flagler County. Tom

Martone is the founder and President. Tom has been working tirelessly over the past four years

in securing a location for his club. They had their ground breaking ceremony on February 20th

which I attended along with Vicki Marteney, Bob Lemon, Marvin Grubb, Harold Newsome and

Jerry Michalek. I was afforded the opportunity to speak on behalf of our association and I

basically covered how many clubs we have and how many tournaments a year we hold per year.

I mentioned that we hold our State Tournament over a four day period each April with this year’s

tournament being held in Bradenton. The FPCHSC initially was going to install just 12 courts

but when I mentioned that in order to host a State Tournament you need to have a minimum of

18 courts. Immediately after the ceremony was over a few dignitaries got together with Tom and

decided to install 18 courts instead of 12. It looks like FPCHSC will be putting their name in to

host a State Tournament in the near future. When complete they will have 18 clay covered

courts.

I would like to thank the members of the EC for their hard work during the State Tournament.

Thanks to Marcela Santoyo on an outstanding job setting up the tournament. Too Vicki and Dale

Marteney for an outstanding job at the Friday cocktail party. Also too Harold Newsome and Dale

Marteney for doing the leg work at the banquet handing out the door prizes and plaques.

In closing I wish everyone a safe and healthy summer and I will see you in the fall.
