Comments Bob Lemon 1st Vice President

The 2012-2013 season has ended with the annual State Tournament being held at the Clearwater Horseshoe Club. The Florida Executive Council is very proud of Chuck Johnston and his staff for making sure that the facilities were in top condition and every aspect of hosting was carried out to perfection. Job well done by the Clearwater Team.

This past season for the first time we conducted a contest to recognize the members that support our State Tournament Schedule. Participating in tournaments is what makes it possible for us to conduct a State Final. Also our local clubs depends on your participation for their success. If we only stay home and compete our future is doomed. We must make the commitment and increase our participation in both our own club and our sister clubs

At the Banquet; we announced the winner of the contest for MEMBERS THAT PITCHED IN THE MOST TOURNAMENTS from April 1,2012 to March 31, 2013. We had a tie for first place, with a total of 27 events each for the season. They were Bob (ZoomerZumbahlen and Lance Potter, Each was awarded a new Competition Shirt and a new set of Horseshoes. The second part of the contest was all FSHPA members were give a Quota of 16 Tournaments to qualify for a special drawing. For every event pitched over the quota their name was entered into the drawing. We had 21 members that surpassed their quota and the name drawn was Roy Knight Jr.  He was awarded a new set of Horseshoe of his choice.

We didn't forget our Out of State NHPA members. They are a very important part of Florida's success. We both welcome and need them to continue to enter our events. They were given a Quota of 10 events and for every event above the quota their name was entered into the Drawing. The winner was our friend Charles ( Buddy ) Short. Buddy is now a New Jersey card holder, but he continues to support us. He will receive a free entry into a Tournament of his choice in the

2013-2014 season.

Congratulations.to Zoomer, Lance, Roy and Buddy. FSHPA is very grateful for their support as well as members that  go above and beyond the required 5 tournaments to qualify for the State Championship.

WE WILL BE HAVING THIS CONTEST AGAIN NEXT SEASON; WITH A FEW TWEAKS, TO THE RULES FOR MEMBERS THAT PITCH IN MOST TOURNAMENT FOR THE 2013-2014 SEASON. Detail will come out in the fall newsletter.

Have a great summer and we will see you in the Fall
