Beautiful” That describes the weather and days of pitching we had at the State Tournament. Many of you recognize that pronouncement if you have had heard Jim Hayden when he sees a ringer pitched and I hope you took some time to smell the jasmine that scented the air while you were there.

Details” There are a lot of those required to make this tournament run from the time of the Executive Council & Club Officers annual meeting on Wednesday to the banquet and awards on Saturday evening.  This starts from the time of approval as host club until the club has finished up after we have all cleared out.  Clearwater Horseshoe Club members provided many behind the scenes manpower hours to have the courts ready each day. That has to be appreciated by everyone.  And this year Lucas Oil Company generously added prize money to the Championship Classes.

Future” After a hot summer ahead our tournament season will begin again slowly in September and Flagler will be hosting the FL/GA Team competition in October so take a look at the new schedule to see if you could join a FL team to challenge the GA teams.

Please don’t forget that it takes many hands to make light work—maybe you would consider joining the By-Laws committee with Boyd Stonerock.  It generally requires only a once a year window of time to help keep our By-laws tuned to NHPA and serving our needs here in our State. Where would we be without Marvin Grubb as Webmaster and Newsletter Editor however he is ready to pass the baton as the Newsletter Editor. Do you have the time and talent for this job?

I especially want to thank Marcela Santoyo for sorting and setting up the tournament entries.  She has a full time job, a husband, a home and other commitments besides horseshoes and still manages to volunteer her valuable time to be our Secretary/Treasurer.  Thanks to Verdell Woollard for staying on as Statistician too, she keeps track of so many things behind the scenes. We can’t forget Jim Smith who helps keep the club websites up-to-date. He is a man in the know.

Keep Pitching!!                                                                                                                                                     Vicki Marteney, 2nd VP
