June comments----- Bob Lemon 1st VP
The Tournament season for 2013-2014 has come to an end and we have 3 new Champions-----
Walter Ray Williams Jr, , Larry Deck. and Shalee Cason. Congratulation, your victories
are well deserved.
As you know we had our annual contest for Top Member that Pitch in the Most Tournaments
for the 2013-2014 season This years winner is Alan Kasch and his lovely wife Janis ( she
is a pro at scorekeeping) They competed in a total of 36 events out of a total of 76
tournaments. Last seasons co-winners of Lance Potter and " Zoomer " gave it a great run,
but they came up a little short. Alan received a Horseshoe box, a new Competition shirt
and a Plaque for his terrific season results. All members that met their quota of 16
tournaments had their names placed into a drawing for a Horseshoe Box. The winner was
Ron Mehrwerth. For our out of state NHPA members, their quota was 10 events and the
winner was Ralph Hanks from NY. Ralph will receive a free entry into a tournament of his
choice. These Drawings were held at our FSHPA annual Banquet on Sat night April 26, 2014.
Congratulation to all the winners. The Council is very grateful to all our members that
support Florida Horseshoe pitching
Special thanks to the Beverly Hills Horseshoe Club, that
hosted this
Championships. You all did yourselves proud. The Executive Council is very grateful for
all your hard work and I am sure those that attended are grateful also. JOB WELL DONE
!!!!!!!!!
As of May 1, 2014 I have assumed the Communication Director position along with my 1st
VP. duties. Lois Hottinger has assumed the State Statistican along with her being
president and tournament director of the Bradenton Horseshoe Club. We take over from
Verdell Woollard, who has resigned due to health reason. We all know and love her as
"Dell" For a few years Dell did both of these jobs as well as being the 3rd VP.of the
FSHPA. What an asset she has been to all of us. She will be missed, but not forgotten. It
is no accident that she is a member of the Florida State HALL of FAME.
Anything that you feel needs to be shared with the membership please let me know. My
e-mail is---horseshoelemon@aol.com .Phone # (518) 281-6205. Have a safe and happy summer.
Looking forward to seeing you next

Since you are reading this newsletter you will know that
Marvin Grubb has introduced a new look to the
State Horseshoe Pitchers web site. That should be enough for everyone to look it over to see all the innovations
that have been introduced.
However some will take a quick glance and depart. So the EC, Marvin, and I are issuing a challenge. It is a
contest for someone to be a CYBER SUPERSLUETH. Somewhere on this new web site there is a hidden
message. It is hidden so well that the FSHPA Executive Council is offering a $2500 prize to the first person
who finds the message, if anyone can. It will NOT be easy.
You will have until midnight July 31, 2014 to claim the prize.
If the message is not found immediately (about two weeks) a hint to help the would-be CYBER SUPER
SLUITHS will appear in the yellow information box on the Home Page. If the prize has not been claimed
another hint will be given near the end of June and another near the end of July. If there is not a winner before the deadline the location of the message will be disclosed in the yellow information box..
Good Luck, you will need it. Jim Smith
