I hope everyone who was able to attend the State Closed Tournament had an enjoyable time while in Beverly Hills.  I had a great time except for how I felt I did pitching—it just didn’t feel right and frustrated me no end for that reason.  But it was a very smoothly operated tournament and our hosts at Beverly Hills Horseshoe Club had their eyes on the stake when they set everything up so I give them a score of 100%.  Thanks to all for their hard work!!

Our annual business meeting was held on Wednesday preceding the competition and many were there to participate.  I had another volunteer added to the By-Laws committee at the meeting and welcome Lee Kohlhafer as a committee member, but that just means there are now two on that committee.  We can always use volunteers for other committees that make our charter effective. Don’t forget that your organization can only run smoothly and efficiently if you all participate.  Even you can give a small segment of your time that will help the entire FSHPA.

Dale and I have entered our first World Tournament this year and we are both excited to keep practicing for the competition.  Usually, we haven’t put much effort in to keep our pitching skills polished through the heat of the summer so that come fall we are pushing ourselves to get back to our ringer percentage.

Pitch well!!

It was great to see so many people at the Florida State Horseshoe Tournament held in Beverly Hills.  Thank you to the Beverly Hills Horseshoe Club for all their hard work and preparation.  The entire club made sure that everything that was needed was in place for all to enjoy.

Thank you to all who pitched, kept score, helped with food, provided encouragement on the sidelines without our club members, spouses, families, friends and community support we would not be able to hold such amazing Annual State Tournaments.

Congratulations to all the winners at the State Tournament; that means everyone!  Maybe you won the Championship, or 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, received your first patch/plaque, entered your first State Tournament, pitched a personal high game, made some new friends, made it through yet another year of pitching horseshoes which means in my book you are all winners!  I hope to see you this next tournament season as well as in Flagler County at 2015 Florida State Horseshoe Championship Tournament.

I also want to add a "shout out" to Marcela Santoyo who has one of toughest jobs during the State Tournament; keeping track of the rest of us.  She not only has to set it all up before hand, she has to be ready to make changes each day as things come up.  She has many helpers to input scores, but she is constantly checking and rechecking to make sure it is right.  She does a great job, so the next time you see Marcy make sure you let her know how much we appreciate her hard work behind the scenes.

Have a wonderful summer whether it is here in Florida or somewhere up north, travel safely and we will see you all back here in Florida on the Horseshoe Tournament circuit this fall.

To those going to the World Tournament - Good Luck!
