I hope everyone had a great time at the State Tournament in Bradenton. Everyone from the Bradenton Horseshoe Club should be given a big thank you for a job well done. I didn’t pitch well, but still had a lot of fun. Since it was my first State Tournament on the Executive Council, I also learned how much work is involved in setting it up. I don’t know what we would do without Marcy Santoyo.
Congratulations to all of our Championship winners, Class winners and to all the pitchers however you finished. The fact that you came to the tournament and supported your fellow pitchers is very important to the future of our sport. I know I met some new people and also reconnected with a lot of friends.
The Junior Scholarship Award for $1000.00 was presented to Elana Callaway on Saturday at the banquet. She was our only Junior competing this year, so she also was awarded the last $100.00 John Reynolds Jr. Memorial Horseshoe Scholarship. I hope in the future she has some competition.
My husband Chris and I will be going to our first World Tournament in Alabama this July. After talking to several people who have participated in the past, it sure sounds like a lot of fun and I am looking forward to it.
I want to wish everyone a happy and safe summer. Keep practicing so you will be ready to enter tournaments when they start up again this fall.

FROM 1ST VICE PRESIDENT
I can’t believe our 2015 – 2106 tournament season is over!
Congratulations to the Bradenton Horseshoe Club for hosting a successful State
Tournament and to all the individual winners! An extra special thank you to Marcella for all
the hard work she does. I also want to
thank each and every one of you, your spouses, friends, etc. that keep score
for us at each tournament during the season. It is really appreciated you are
all champions in my book! It is a pleasure and an honor to be your 1st
Vice President if there is anything I can do for you please do not hesitate to
call or email me. I will try my best to help you and if I do not know the
answers I will research until I find them. Every
member should know that this is an excellent board of directors and they are
working very hard for each and every one of you. I will be attending the World
Horseshoe Tournament for the first time this year and am looking forward to
seeing many of my fellow Floridian players (and our snowbirds) there! I wish
the best of luck to you all! I am looking forward to September when our
tournament season begins again. Each and every one of us should try to
introduce one person to the wonderful world of horseshoe pitching to keep our
sport alive. Word of mouth is a very powerful
tool !
I hope you all have a safe and wonderful summer!
Until then…..keep those ringers coming,
Janet McFarland
