Comments from the 3rd Vice President

First of all I would like to thank everyone from the Clearwater Horseshoe Club for a wonderful State Tournament.  The weather cooperated, for the most part. It was great to see that we had some new members that competed in their first State Tournament.  Congratulations to all the winners.

Since we did not have any juniors or cadets pitching in the tournament  this year, the Junior Scholarship was given to a deserving young lady from the Clearwater area. Gabriela Usgategui is a senior at Anclote High School.  She will be attending the University of Central Florida after graduation. We wish her all the best.

After taking the summer off… wait a minute I don’t take the summer off.  Since I pitch all year at two different clubs, one would think I should be getting better at this sport.  Well, there’s always next year.   Speaking of next year, Beverly Hills is looking forward to hosting both the Florida State Club Team Event in January and the Florida Closed State Championship in April.  If you have not pitched at Beverly Hills, this would be the year to attend some of the other tournaments before the big events.

My husband, Chris, and I are going to try to get to some different clubs this year. Maybe some of you could do the same.  I know it’s hard for some to travel, but we should support as many clubs as we can.
