Jim Strain

     2017

Born: 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Wife:  Leah;      Married to Leah for 52 years, and they have 3 sons.

Jim lived in Pennsylvania  until moving to Florida in 1999.

Jim worked at a Steel Mill in West Virginia for 32 years.

Jim joined the NHPA  and FSHPA in 2003.

Jim is currently the President of The Villages Horseshoe Club and has served in that position for the past 11 years.

Jim has been The Villages League Director for the last 13 years.

Jim served as The Villages Tournament Director for 10 years and still assists the current tournament director.

Jim has served as The Villages Senior Games Director for 7 years.

Jim was awarded the NHPA Sanctioned League Director of the year in 2014.

Thanks to Jim since he has been President of The Villages Horseshoe Club membership and  participation in league and tournaments has increased.   Jim has become so accomplished at running tournaments using the HSMaster program that he  has volunteered to assist Beverly Hills, Oak Bend, and Del Webb with their tournaments. While he is always busy at The Villages Horseshoe Club he is never too busy to help others.

On the courts Jim is a fierce but friendly competitor. Anyone who has played Jim in a tournament can be assured of good competition while laughing and having fun doing it. We need more role models like Jim for other new and current players to emulate.

Jim's devotion to the sport of horseshoes could not be more evident than serving The Villages Horseshoe Club as its President, Tournament Director, League Director, and Senior Games Director all at the same time. Jim  is very deserving of the Hall of Fame induction because of his many hours of dedicated service as an outstanding organizer for the sport of  horseshoes.
