My goodness!! What can I say that the other members of the Executive Council haven't said in their newsletter comments already? They have all sung the praises of the Flagler County Horseshoe Pitching Club and I have to follow suit. That new building was da bomb!! Thank you to everyone in those pretty blue club shirts who worked so hard to prepare the courts, feed us, keep us hydrated and make our bio-breaks a few steps closer!

We had the most people at the annual banquet this year than in the last 5 plus years. It was a terrific event. The tables were set beautifully, the food was delicious, and I heard a whole lot of laughter all night long. Thank you to everyone who made the night so special. I was very touched to have been voted into the Hall of Fame this year. I do appreciate how everyone has helped me grow into the role of Secretary/Treasurer. I had a rocky start but now, nearly 10 years later (10 years already??) I am finally getting the hang of things.....just in time to make changes!

You will see some changes coming soon - we will be working on re-designing the FSHPA website. Perhaps we can organize our content a little better so that is easier to access. Please send in any ideas you have or volunteer your services. We can use input on color schemes, design, additional content. Maybe we'll eventually be able to renew memberships and sign up new members on line. The possibilities are limitless!

A great big ole SHOUT OUT to all the scorekeepers who helped out at the State Tournament. Boy oh boy, do we always need scorekeepers!! Thank you for signing up and sitting at your station for hours on end. Thank you for making very FEW mistakes! You guys were wonderful!

Participation this year at the State Tournament was similar to 2018 participation, although Mixed Doubles lagged a bit. This might be due to not having enough 40 foot pitchers to go around! We always seem to have 30 footers looking for 40 footers leading into the tournament.

How hot is everyone right now? I can hardly believe the 100+ temperatures we are getting in Central Florida. I signed up for the World Tournament and I should be pitching at least 250 shoes per day to get ready but it is ridiculous out there. Can we create a new division for Pool Horseshoes please?

I look forward to seeing some of you at the World Tournament. My plan is to go for the entire 2 weeks but I still have a lot of details to work out. While I am not pitching I plan to keep score and to meet as many folks as possible and to ask them if they would mind giving a short interview on camera - nothing fancy, just the iPhone. I want to take images from various horseshoe events and anecdotes from horseshoe pitchers to make into a documentary one day. I love to watch movies, so naturally, I think I can make one! Please let me know if you'd like to participate.

See you all out on the courts! Looking forward to a terrific 2019-2020 season!
