COMMENTS FROM SECOND VP
My hat is off to the Highlands County Horseshoe Club in Sebring who
provided a great environment for all the teams who entered the Club Team
Tournament. We should always have a problem with having so many teams entered
that we have to adjust the pitching schedule to make it fit in one day. The
point spread difference was extremely close. And the weather was just
beautiful. It was good to see the snowbirds that are members of the clubs along
with some of our other
some to drive long distances to pitch.
As this goes to press, the Flagler Palm Coast Horseshoe Club is having a
groundbreaking ceremony. This is going to make our pitchers in the northeastern
part of the state really happy. And it should add some new members in the mix
as well. We have some pitchers who have to travel long distances (and they have
to do it 5 times) just to qualify for the State tournament. Some are working
people and some are retired, but it still takes extra money and time away from
home to reach the cities where they can pitch.
Our tournament year is picking up speed as plans are being made for the
State Closed Tournament. Our
making sure that all can enjoy the pitching in April. They’ve worked really
hard at keeping the prices at affordable levels. I hope to see a great many of
you there this year.
I am still looking for volunteers to be on the By-Law and Grievance
committees.
AND we are still in need of a promotional chairman. Maybe you are the one to
be in charge of the committee or maybe you just want to be on the committee.
Maybe you just want to throw some ideas our way. You may email me at either
dvmarteney@juno.com or dvmarteney@aol.com
