                                                                                March 2012

I hope 2012 is turning out to be a good year for you all! I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the state tournament in April.  Remember that as you send me your entry fees I will hold your checks until after April 1 so please don’t worry if your check doesn’t clear right away. I have to hold the checks until the start of our new fiscal year on April 1.

Partners Request Bulletin Board – if you need a partner for the doubles you can post your request by going to http://fshpa.com/scws2012/mainpage.html. On the left side of the page you will see “Need a Partner?” Click on that and it will open a new page where you can send an email request. I will post it for you on the web page. Remember to let me know once you’ve found a partner so that I can remove your request. You can also call me at 407.399.4908 or email me directly at marcysantoyo@hotmail.com.

2012 is an election year for FSHPA. Please consider running for an office. I will seek re-election in 2012 but welcome any one else who wants to put their hat in the ring.

Congratulations to Bob Volles on his 20 year longevity patch.  I left him off the list of longevity patch awards in the December 2011 newsletter. Sorry, Bob! And thanks for bringing it to my attention!

See you in April at the state tournament!

                                          Comments from First V.P.

I am pleased to become a member of the Executive Council as your 1st. V.P. When Bob Hilpertshouser first called, to asked about me becoming a member, I was leery to say yes, because I am fairly new to Florida Horseshoes. In my short time being involved I have met many new friends and I am looking forward to meeting many more as I grow into my new responsibilities.

For those who don't know me, I thought I would give you some basic information. I was born, raised and educated in West Virginia.  My wife's name is Jan and we have 4 adult children ( Melissa, Rob. Josh, and Aric.)  They have blessed us with 6 grandchildren  My business career was in retail with Sears. I spent 35 yrs with them and as I advanced I lived in WV. Penn.,Ohio Conn. and NY. My main hobbies, all my life, were playing sports, which turn me into becoming a referee in Basketball, Soccer and Track and Field for High school and College. (With that experience, I truly understand that not all decisions are appreciated by everyone.)  After retirement, Jan and I bought a Motor home and traveled south from New York to spend our winters. We have sold our home In NY and purchased a home in Ocala, FL. ( 2007 )  Now we do the reverse by going back to New York and West Virginia for the summer.  Soon after moving to Florida, I met Mike Tatonetti, and he got me started in the world of Florida Horseshoes. I am a member Of Beverly Hills Horseshoe Club and this is my 4th season competing In Tournaments -----.I LOVE IT !!!!!

I have no particular agenda at this point. My plans are to attend  tournaments, and meet and learn from FHSPA members.  I am looking forward to meeting you this season. My approach when it comes to Horseshoes is always have fun ( win or lose )  My favorite rule in Horseshoes is the "Golden Rule"   See you at the Pits.
