COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

MARCH 2013

The Club/Team Tournament held in Melbourne on January 26th was again a success with 6 clubs 10 teams participating. The top five teams were Brevard Team 2, Bradenton Team 2, Oviedo, Bradenton Team 1 and Sebring Team 2. Thanks to Duane Raeburn, President Brevard HSC, and his team for an outstanding job getting the courts ready for this tournament.

The annual Club/Presidents meeting will be held on April 27th at the Clarion Inn & Suites conference room starting 9:30 AM. There are several By-Laws changes that will be voted on. Also we will be talking about an expense incurred by the Clearwater HSC to replace the existing AC unit that was 17 years old. All of you know that the Clearwater club serve as the repository of Hall of Fame materials and has asked the Association for financial help. Clearwater paid $3925.00 to replace the unit and asked the State for help in the amount of $1500.00. The EC in turn approved a reimbursement in amount of $980.00. Since this expense was not in the budget we will need to come up with ways to recoup $980.00. There are reasons why Clearwater had to come to the State for reimbursement which would take up too much space in the newsletter therefore they will apprise the members why they had to come to the Association for financial help.

We still need a Promotion Chairman to take the place of Jim Smith along with a few committee members. How about being a member on one of our committees. Bob Lemon, Director of the Audit & Finance committee is looking for someone to fill a vacant position. Vicki Marteney is the Director of the By-Laws and Grievance committee and she is looking for someone to fill a vacant position. It appears that not many of you are willing to serve on the Executive Council so maybe you can help your association by serving on one of the committees mentioned.

For the past 10 years Dell Woollard has been your 3rd VP. I had the pleasure working with Dell for the past 8 years and you will not find a more dedicated individual. Dell’s priorities were the same as mine and that is what was best for our members. Dell not only carried out the duties of 3rd VP but assumed the duties of State Statistician and Communications Director, both appointed positions. For those of you that don’t know, Dell is a perfectionist which is why she does such an outstanding job as State Statistician.  Dell will continue as our Statistician and Communications Director until she lets me know otherwise. Thank you Dell for all you have done for our association the past 10 years.

The Clearwater HSC has done an outstanding job in preparation for the upcoming State Tournament and I am looking forward seeing you all at the State Tournament.

In closing I would like to announce that I will seek reelection for the office of FSHPA Inc. President and I can assure you that I will continue to do what is best for ALL MEMBERS of the Association.
