A few words of tribute of Charlie Thornsburg

He was a great advocate for horseshoes. If you wanted to pitch, you had to love him (he made it as easy as possible).

He would go out of his way to help others. He did far more than I could ever do. Once while I doubted we could do something, he

looked me in the eyes and said, “This club (Suwannee River) is the real deal. We can do it.”

Charlie was the Real Deal, and he would love to be pitching with us today. I’m pitching for him.

                                                             GEORGE CORSON

The Brooksville Horseshoe Club, the Brookridge Horseshoe Club, and the Florida Horseshoe

Pitching Assoc. has lost another long time member.

George Corson has gone to be with the Lord. His Daughter, Leslie and Son in Law, Bob were

He was 1st of all a Minister for his church, a good father, and real friend of both

club's members.  George had just turned 90 years old.  He loved to pitch shoes and when

his body would let him, he was there.  He was one of the few World War II Vets left.  He

did Submarine duty during his tour.

                                                      JOE STRONG

Joe was a member of the Melbourne club for 8 years before he moved to the Villages where he

lived the past two years.  He was an avid golfer and horseshoe pitcher.  He was the type of guy

that anyone could have fun with and be around.  Joe enjoyed life and being around his friends in

horseshoes.  He will be sadly missed by the The Villages and Melbourne members.
