All singles
competition will be conducted on Friday and Saturday beginning at 8:00 AM both days. The
Championship
classes will be scheduled to pitch on Saturday afternoon. All players will be
scheduled
based on their entering ringer percentage for either Friday or Saturday. Classes
with a ringer
percentage spread greater than 10% will be handicapped at 80%. The Championship class of each
division,
except the Junior division, will consist of the defending champion (who must pitch on Friday
in order to pitch in the Championship class) and the 6 highest ringer percentages
pitched in classes A
through D. A
championship qualifier must notify the tournament committee of his intention to
pitch in
the
championship class prior to 6:00 PM on Friday, April 24th. There is no
additional entry fee for the
championship
class. Alternates may be scheduled to complete the seven person championship classes.
If
the Friday
schedule is cancelled the Championship classes will consist of the defending
champion and the
six highest entering
ringer percentages.
Finishing
positions in class will be determined by games won and lost. All tied positions
in all classes
except the
Championship classes will be determined by "Who beat whom" as
explained in the NHPA
RGS Book
Rule 11. A playoff will be conducted in all Championship classes in which there
is a tie for
first
place. All other tied positions in the Championship classes will be determined
per the NHPA RGS
Book Rule
11 "Who beat whom" in the round robin competition. If two players tie for first place in a
Championship
class then the winner will be determined by a one game, 50-shoe playoff between
the tied
players.
The loser of this game will be declared second and the winner declared State
Champion.
If three players tie for first place in a
Championship class then the players will be ranked by ringer
percentage
pitched in the competition. The lowest percentage player will play the second
lowest
percentage
player a one game, 50-shoe playoff. The loser of this game will be declared
third place. The
winner of
this game and the highest percentage player will play a one game, 50-shoe
playoff. The loser
of this game
will be declared second and the winner will be State Champion.
If four players tie for first place in a
Championship class the winner will be determined as follows: 1)
The players
will be ranked by ringer percentage pitched in the tournament. 2) The highest percentage
player will
play the lowest percentage player a one game, 50-shoe playoff. The second and
third ranked
percentage
players will play a one game, 50-shoe playoff.
3) The winners of the above games will play
a one game,
50- shoe playoff with the winner of this game declared State Champion and the
loser placed
second in
the class. 4) The loser of the games
explained in step 2 above will play a one game, 50-shoe
playoff.
The winner of this game will be declared third and the loser will be placed
fourth in the class.
In the
event of rain and/or cancellation of play on Friday the Executive Council will
reschedule the
classes on
Saturday with the Championship classes given preference of play. The
rescheduling on
Saturday
may require reducing the classes to six players and pitching three shifts,
starting at 8:00 AM,
in order to
schedule the maximum number of players. All players not scheduled or cancelled
due to
rescheduling
on Saturday will receive refunded entry fees. Rescheduling from two days back
to one day
may require
reducing the number of shoes per game in all classes. All rescheduling is the
responsibility
of the
Executive Council and will be done in the best interest of the tournament and
the FSHPA Inc. If
both days
are rained out then the Championship classes will be scheduled on Sunday. All
other players
4may
request a refund of their entry fee or will be scheduled on Sunday. Entry fee
refunds must be
requested
by 5:00 PM on Saturday. The revised schedule will be posted by 6:00 PM on Saturday.
