FLORIDA STATE CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNMENT

MXD DOUBLES APRIL 10, 2019 @ 1 PM | WOMEN/MEN/ELDER DOUBLES APRIL 11, 2019 @ 8 AM

START TIME

·         The Mixed Doubles competition will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 PM ***PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A NEW TIME***

·          The Doubles competition will be held on Thursday at 8AM

SEEDING CONTESTANTS

·         The teams will be handicapped at 80% if the ringer spread is greater than 10%

·         The seven or eight highest entering average teams will be scheduled as class “A”

·         The pitching format will be double alternate pitch

CLASS WINNERS

·         Finishing positions in each class will be determined by games won and lost

·         Tied positions in all classes (except the championship classes) will be determined by the HS Master scoring program

·         The “A” class handicap winner will receive first place money and a plaque

·         Second, third and possibly fourth place winners will receive cash prizes

CONCURRENT ACTUAL AND HANDICAP METHOD

·         This method is used to schedule the “A” and the Championship classes for equitable competition and will be announced at the tournament

·         Each game pitched in the “A” class counts as an actual score and as a handicap score

·         Once a game has concluded between two “A” class teams, the handicap score is determined and if there is no tie in the actual score the teams will move on to their next game

·         If the actual score is tied, then the teams will continue with a 4 shoe pitch off as described in the NHPA playing rules to determine the actual winner; the handicap score will be taken at 48 shoes and the four extra shoes will not count in the handicap score

·         The 48 shoe games will be pitched and the final scores will count in two ways:

o   First the team winning with the highest score will get a win in the Championship class and the other team will receive a loss in the Championship class

o   Then, the handicap will be added to the scratch score to give a handicap game score

o   The handicap winner will receive one point and the other team will receive no points in class “A”

o   If the handicap score is a tie each team will receive one-half point in the “A” class

CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS

·         Championships for these classes will be determined the same day using Concurrent method

·         The Championship class will be determined on games won and lost

·         If there is a tie for first place, then a play-off game(s) will be conducted in the same manner as described in the singles competition article

·         All other positions in the Championship class will be determined by the “Head to Head” method used by the HS Master program
