COMMENTS FROM PRESIDENT

Hello everyone,

I would like to begin my comments with a BIG Thank You to Janet McFarland for her years of service as our 1st VP. She took the position back in September of 2015 and has done a fabulous job. She has been there with our executive council every step of the way working hard for our association and has shown great concern for our members. She is stepping down in April of this year to spend more time with her husband John. I would like to let everyone know that Janet has been a hard working, forward thinker and I will miss her expertise and council to help keep me on track. Thank you Janet!!

With that I would also like to congratulate Donnie Nettles, as he will be our next 1st VP taking over duties right after this years state tournament in April. Donnie brings a wealth of knowledge to our executive council and I am looking forward to working with Donnie for years to come. I would like to personally thank you Donnie for stepping up to fill this position. Attached to my letter is a quick bio from Donnie for those who do not know him.

All preparations are just about completed for our upcoming State Championships to be held at the Flagler County Horseshoe Club from April 10th-13th. We will start out with our annual club presidents meeting at the host hotel (Hilton Garden Inn) April 10th at 9:30 am, please send Marcy a proxy letter in the event the club president is not able to attend the annual meeting naming another member of their club to vote in their absence.

Mixed doubles will start at 1PM on Wednesday the 10th. (Please take note of the earlier start time)

I would like to congratulate Flagler County Horseshoe Pitching Club for winning the Club Team tournament this year- 2nd place went to Brevard, 3rd to Clearwater #2, 4th to Oviedo, 5th to Beverly Hills and 6th to Winter Haven #1. Congratulations to all!!

On a very sad note we have lost several members of our association in 2018-19, Dean Anderson, Boyd Stonerock, Eric Ray and Jim Smith. Boyd as youll know dedicated many hours to our association both as a pitcher and selling horseshoe related sales. I personally will miss Boyd and his wonderful sense of humor. Thank you, Jean for all you did with your tireless efforts in support of Boyd and our association as well. Eric was a member of the Clearwater Horseshoe club for many years. Please pray for his wife Carol and their family. And Jim Smith put in many hours getting websites up and running for our clubs and he was also a roving photographer at tournaments.

Finally, get out there and pitch, get your 5 tournaments in so you can come to the State Tournament and have some fun. If you have never attended States, I would highly recommend it. Its great fun and you can even try your luck at beating Mark and I at cornhole. See you at the courts in a tournament soon.
