FLORIDA STATE CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

MEN, WOMEN, ELDER AND JUNIOR SINGLES

APRIL 12 & 13, 2019 -- 8 AM, FLAGLER COUNTY HORSESHOE CLUB BUNNELL, FLORIDA

START TIME

· All singles competition will be conducted on Friday and Saturday beginning at 8:00 AM both days

· The Championship classes will be scheduled to pitch on Saturday afternoon

· All players will be scheduled based on their entering ringer percentage for either Friday or Saturday

SEEDING CONTESTANT

· All players will be seeded based on their entering ringer percentage (Natstats at the end of March 2019)

· Non-championship classes with a ringer percentage spread greater than 10% will be handicapped at 80%

· The Championship class of each division, except the Junior division, will consist of the defending champion and the 6 highest ringer percentages pitched in classes A through D; defending champion is required to pitch in the Friday Singles event

· If the Friday schedule is cancelled, the Championship classes will consist of the defending champion and the six highest entering ringer percentages

CLASS WINNERS

· Finishing positions in each class will be determined by games won and lost

· Tied positions in all classes (except the Championship classes) will be determined by the HS Master scoring program

CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS

· There is no additional entry fee for the championship class

· A championship qualifier must notify the tournament committee of his/her intention to pitch in the championship class prior to 6:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2019 -- alternates may be scheduled to complete the seven-person championship classes

CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS WINNERS

· Finishing positions in each division will be determined by games won and lost

· In the event of a tie for first place a playoff will be conducted in all Championship classes; all other tied positions in the Championship classes will be determined by the HS Master scoring program

o Tie between 2 contestants

§ Contestants will pitch one playoff game consisting of 50-shoes

§ Winner of this game will be declared State Champion, the loser declared second place

o Tie between 3 contestants

§ Contestants will be ranked by ringer percentage pitched in the Championship competition

§ Lowest percentage player will play the second lowest percentage player in a one game 50-shoe playoff with the loser of this game declared as third place

§ Winner of this game and the highest percentage player will play a one game 50-shoe playoff

§ Winner of this game will be declared State Champion and the loser declared second place

o Tie between 4 contestants

§ Contestants will be ranked by ringer percentage pitched in the Championship competition

§ Highest percentage player will play the lowest percentage player a one game 50-shoe playoff

§ Second and third ranked percentage players will play a one game 50-shoe playoff

§ Winners of the above games will play a one game 50- shoe playoff with the winner of this game declared State Champion and the loser declared second place in the class

§ Losers of the games explained in step 2 above will play a one game 50-shoe playoff

§ Winner of this game will be declared third place and the loser will be declared fourth place in the class

RESCHEDULING/CANCELLING OF EVENTS

· In the event of rain and/or cancellation of play on Friday the Executive Council will reschedule the classes on Saturday with the Championship classes given preference of play

· Rescheduling on Saturday may require reducing the classes to six players and pitching three shifts, starting at 8:00 AM, to maximize number of pitchers

· Entry fees will be refunded to all players who do not get to pitch due to rescheduling on Saturday

· Rescheduling from two days back to one day may require reducing the number of shoes per game in all classes

· All rescheduling is the responsibility of the Executive Council and will be done in the best interest of the tournament and the FSHPA, Inc.

· If both days are rained out, then the Championship classes will be scheduled on Sunday

· All other players may request a refund of their entry fee or will be scheduled on Sunday

· Entry fee refunds must be requested by 5:00 PM on Saturday and the revised schedule will be posted by 6:00 PM on Saturday
